This summer I wanted to highlight an amazing fabric I came across at one of my secret spots in LA: 1960s German military raindrop camo.  This raindrop or ‘falling rain’ pattern is the final variant on the classic World War II German ‘splinter’ pattern.  Predominantly used by the East German Military, this pattern came to influence post-war camouflage.  Variations on the ‘splinter’ pattern can be found throughout eastern Europe.
The fabric that the raindrop pattern is printed on is a very slightly oiled 10 oz. broadcloth.  It’s a strong weave with a great hand. The more you wear the shorts the more the fabric changes.  After wash the fabric will fade a bit, giving the garment a vintage and worn look.  You’ll get people asking you what vintage shop you got your Safari Shorts from. This fabric is completely unique in all the camo that is on the market today and the pattern is subtle enough for even the most conservative dressers.
The Safari Shorts in Nutmeg Brown Twill and the Raindrop Camo are a nice addition any daper gentleman’s summer wardrobe, and are now available for $76 on our online store.
